“Open House Bandits” Strike Again

The “Open House Bandits” have recently struck a home in the Guilford area stealing jewelry during a showing. A woman accompanied by a younger woman purporting to be a mother and daughter arranged for a “showing”. The cover
story was that the mother and daughter were moving from Long Island and looking for a house to buy. The “mother” gave a cell phone number that turned out to be false. During the “showing”, the “daughter” distracted the agent by
requesting to see another portion of the house. While the agent was in the other part of the house, the “mother” apparently tossed dressers and desks for valuables. The “mother” is a woman in her late thirties or early forties with
light brown hair. The “daughter” is thin and in her early 20’s. They drive a white, Ford Focus or similar vehicle. They appear to target homes listed for $500,000 and up. If you are contacted by persons fitting this description, try
and obtain a license plate number or other identifying information, and contact your local police department. For further information, email CAR’s General Counsel Eugene A. Marconi at marconie@ctrealtor.com or call (860) 290-6601
